Chamber Of Commerce

Chamber Of Commerce

The term "chamber of commerce" refers to a grouping of companies organized under IRS code 501(c)6. Chambers of commerce work to advance the economic well-being of a locality, region, state, or country by promoting their members' individual business interests. A chamber of commerce is not a government agency, despite the fact that it collaborates with the government.

At the municipal, state, and national levels, chambers of commerce often lobby to ensure that their legislative agenda is properly represented. No government money goes to the chambers, which function independently.
